Team HaNS

Team HaNS is competing in the open category with a talented group of eight members, mostly from the Netherlands, with one member from Brazil. What makes them unique is their mix of specializations. With expertise in Software Development, Automotive Engineering, and Embedded Engineering, they have everything they need to take their autonomous vehicle to the next level.

Diversity as a strength

The team’s biggest advantage is their broad range of skills. By combining different areas of expertise, they tackle problems from multiple angles and develop smart, innovative solutions. Whether it’s software, hardware, or vehicle technology, they are up for the challenge. For them, the Self Driving Challenge is the perfect opportunity to test their skills, push their limits, and gain hands-on experience in the world of autonomous driving.

Clank: the robot on wheels

This is their first time competing, but they are ready to make an impact. Their vehicle, a Renault Twizy, is named Clank, a nod to the iconic robot from the game Ratchet & Clank. Just like its namesake, Clank is built to perform. The team has equipped it with a LiDAR sensor for precise obstacle detection and is adding a camera to further improve performance.

Challenges ahead

Their biggest technical challenge is working with older hardware and getting the vehicle to operate at its best. But that won’t stop them. Their main goal is to get the car successfully through the course and create a solid foundation for future competitions. And while they’re at it, why not aim to win the Self Driving Challenge 2025?

With their diverse expertise, smart innovations, and determination, Team HaNS is ready to take on the competition and push Clank to new heights.
